Homemade Pesto – Basil, Pinenuts & Garlic

Homemade pesto is super quick and easy to make and a nutritional powerhouse. Make your own to avoid the inflammatory vegetable oils and additives so often in shop bought ones. And there’s nothing better than the aroma of fresh basil. The aroma is the essential oil which has numerous health benefits. Being rich in the fat-soluble antioxidant beta-carotene, iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and vitamin K it is particularly supportive for skin and bone health.

  • 100g fresh basil
  • 100g pine nuts or walnuts
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Juice of 1/2 fresh lemon
  • 1 clove garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil


  • Place all the ingredients in a blender, except the olive oil.
  • As soon as you begin to blend, slowly pour in the olive oil until the pesto is at the desired consistency.
